Determining whether a film is a sequel or a prequel is not as clear as one might think. Some of the films listed below, such as Three Colors: Red (1994) and Dogma (1999), can be called sequels only in the loosest sense. Furthermore, some can make a case that films like The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Pulp Fiction (1994) are sequels.
